SMS Messaging Program

Last updated September 2026

This page describes the text messages sent through Restaurant IQ, a restaurant operations dashboard operated by Chattabot Inc. It explains who receives messages, how people agree to receive them, what the messages look like, and how to stop them.

Who receives messages

Only staff and managers of a restaurant that uses Restaurant IQ. Messages are never sent to customers or to the general public, and never for marketing or promotional purposes.

How you opt in

Restaurant staff

  1. During onboarding, you give your mobile number to your manager in person.
  2. Your manager enters it into the restaurant's internal, password-protected staff scheduling system. No text is sent at this point.
  3. To sign in, you open your restaurant's private sign-in link, enter your own mobile number, and tap "Send code." The sign-in screen states that by continuing you agree to receive text messages from Restaurant IQ, with message frequency, rates, and STOP/HELP instructions. Login codes are sent only in response to this request, and schedule updates (time-off and shift-swap decisions) are sent only in response to an action you took in the system.

Restaurant managers

  1. You give your mobile number to your restaurant's account owner.
  2. The owner enters it on the password-protected Settings page of the restaurant's Restaurant IQ account, where it is used only for messages from your own restaurant's management team.

Message types and examples

  • One-time login code: "Your Sample Cafe schedule login code is 123456. Expires in 5 minutes."
  • Schedule update: "Sample Cafe Schedule: Your time off request for Oct 3 was approved."
  • Shift swap: "Sample Cafe Schedule: Jordan wants to trade shifts with you. Open the app to respond."
  • Management message (managers only, written by a manager at the same restaurant): "Reminder: inventory count tonight after close."

Frequency, cost, and opting out

Message frequency varies with login and schedule activity and with how often your managers send messages. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out and you will receive no further texts; reply HELP for assistance, or email nlk@chattabot.ai. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
